MERIDIAN, MS — The Meridian community is mourning the loss of 23-year-old Marquishia Johnson, who tragically lost her life in a vehicle accident Thursday night on Highway 45.
Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred late in the evening, prompting an emergency response from the Meridian Police Department and the Meridian Fire Department. The roadway was shut down for several hours as crews worked the scene. Sadly, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
An infant who was also involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital for treatment. As of now, no updates on the child’s condition have been released. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
Marquishia will be remembered as a young woman whose life, though far too short, touched many around her. Her family, friends, and loved ones now face the difficult reality of her sudden passing while holding on to the memories she leaves behind.
Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
