In Loving Memory of Manissa Tranell Howard

Bossier City, Louisiana — With heavy hearts, we honor the memory of Manissa Tranell Howard, age 44, whose life was tragically taken in a domestic violence shooting on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Villaggio Apartments.

Police were called to the apartment complex on Venecia Drive after receiving a 911 call from a concerned family member. The situation quickly escalated into a standoff involving SWAT and hostage negotiators. During the response, the suspect opened fire on officers, injuring two Bossier City Police officers, both of whom have since been released from the hospital and are recovering.

When officers finally entered the apartment, Manissa was found deceased in the bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect, found in another room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, remains in critical condition.

Manissa’s life was stolen in an act of senseless domestic violence. She was a mother, a friend, and a loved one whose presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Her death is a tragic reminder of the very real dangers of domestic abuse and the importance of awareness, protection, and prevention.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. May Manissa Tranell Howard rest in eternal peace. Her memory lives on.
