NEW ROADS, La. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night in New Roads, leaving one person in critical condition.
According to officials, the individual sustained five gunshot wounds and was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition. It has not yet been confirmed whether the injured person was the officer involved.
The incident happened near the O’Reilly Auto Parts on Hospital Road, sources told WBRZ. Louisiana State Police has taken over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No additional details have been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
