In Loving Memory of Brendan James Heisey

The community of Elizabethtown and Messiah University is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Brendan James Heisey, 22, who tragically passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in a train accident near the South Gate entrance of the university.

Brendan was a bright young man whose presence touched the lives of those around him. Friends and classmates remember him for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and his joyful spirit that made everyone feel welcomed. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire campus community.

Messiah University has shared its sorrow, with President Jon C. Stuckey offering words of comfort and reminding students and staff of the importance of leaning on one another in this time of grief. A private prayer vigil and counseling services have been arranged to help the community find strength and healing together.

Brendan’s life, though cut tragically short, will be remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration. He was not only a student but also a son, a friend, and an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we mourn his passing, we also honor his memory and the light he brought into this world. Brendan’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
