It is with heavy hearts that we remember Chelsea Jewkes, 31, who tragically lost her life in a fatal head-on crash on Avenue N in Palmdale on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Chelsea was the driver of a silver Lexus involved in a devastating collision with a fleeing vehicle, a black Mercedes Benz, at the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue N. Emergency responders found the Lexus on the dirt shoulder, and despite their efforts, Chelsea was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her passenger was critically injured and rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center.
The driver and passenger of the Mercedes fled on foot but were apprehended shortly after with injuries. The Mercedes had been fleeing a prior crash on the freeway and was weaving dangerously through traffic when the collision occurred. The crash also impacted two other victims, including a pregnant woman who was evaluated at a hospital due to the traumatic incident.
The community is deeply saddened by this tragic loss. A vigil will be held to honor Chelsea’s memory and to support her family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking event.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Chelsea’s loved ones during this difficult time. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew her.
