In Loving Memory of Xavier Padilla Aguilera

It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of 2-year-old Xavier Padilla Aguilera, who was tragically taken from this world after being swept away by flash floodwaters in Barstow, California, on September 18, 2025.

Xavier, a sweet and gentle child, lived with autism and was nonverbal, but he spoke volumes through his bright eyes, his smile, and the love he brought to everyone who knew him. His short life was filled with innocence, joy, and the purest kind of love a child can give.

On that Thursday evening, Xavier was with his father, Brandon, when their car was overtaken by the sudden floodwaters. Though his father fought desperately to save him, Xavier was carried away. After a night of searching, his body was found Friday afternoon, bringing a devastating end to the family’s hopes.

His grandmother, Carolyn Tackett, described the pain and love the family is experiencing: “We’re all devastated… but I love Barstow today because everybody came together to look for my grandson.” The community’s support in the search for Xavier was a reflection of the love his short life inspired in others.

Xavier is remembered as a beautiful little boy with curly light brown hair, a sweet spirit, and a presence that touched hearts deeply. Though his time on earth was far too brief, the love he gave and received will never be forgotten.

He leaves behind his father, Brandon Padilla Aguilera, his grandmother Carolyn Tackett, his aunt Leanna, and many other family members and loved ones who will carry his memory forever.

Xavier’s life reminds us to cherish each moment with our children and to find strength in community when tragedy strikes.

Rest in peace, sweet Xavier. You will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you.
