It is with heavy hearts that we report the tragic passing of Mason Snowball, age 23, of West Valley City, Utah. Mason was found deceased Thursday evening, September 18, 2025, at the scene of a traffic accident near Jackson Street and La Salle Drive in Midvale. Despite the swift response and life-saving efforts of Unified Police and Unified Fire Authority personnel, Mason was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the initial investigation, authorities discovered that Mason had sustained a gunshot wound. Detectives from the Unified Police Department’s Violent Crimes Division have opened a homicide investigation.
On Friday evening, Unified Police officers took a 14-year-old male juvenile into custody in connection with the incident. The juvenile was booked into the Salt Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.
The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence. The family of Mason Snowball asks for privacy as they mourn the loss of a beloved son, friend, and member of the community.
Mason’s life, though tragically cut short, will be remembered by all who knew him. His memory, warmth, and spirit leave an indelible mark on the hearts of family, friends, and loved ones.
