HOUSTON, Texas — A tragic scene unfolded Monday afternoon in northwest Harris County, where authorities say two sisters were killed in an apparent murder-suicide carried out by an ex-boyfriend.
Deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to a home in the 12200 block of Walters Road around 2:30 p.m. after a concerned coworker went to check on one of the victims who had not shown up for work. When he arrived, he found three people lying on the floor covered in blood and immediately contacted authorities.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered three deceased individuals, later identified as Jaquelin Arias Rivas, 30, her younger sister Saidia Machado, 19, and Rivas’ estranged ex-boyfriend, Sebastian Rodriguez, 40.
Investigators say Rodriguez shot both women before turning the gun on himself. Security camera footage and physical evidence from the scene support the ruling of a murder-suicide.
Authorities confirmed that Rivas had two young children who lived in the apartment but were at school during the shooting.
“This is a heartbreaking case of domestic violence that has left two young women dead and children without their mother,” officials said.
The investigation remains ongoing as family and neighbors mourn the devastating loss.
