It is with profound grief and heartbreak that we share the tragic passing of two beloved sisters, Jaquelin Arias Rivas, age 30, and her younger sister, Saidia Machado, age 19, who lost their lives on Monday, September 22, 2025, in a devastating act of violence inside their northwest Harris County home in Houston, Texas.
Authorities responded to the home on the 12200 block of Walters Road after Jaquelin’s coworkers grew concerned when she did not arrive for work. What they found was unthinkable: both sisters had been killed in what investigators are calling a murder-suicide. Also found deceased was Jaquelin’s estranged ex-boyfriend, Sebastian Rodriguez, 40, believed to be responsible for the attack.
Though their lives were taken far too soon, Jaquelin and Saidia leave behind a legacy of love, strength, and light.
Jaquelin was known for her dedication, kindness, and nurturing spirit—a woman with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility to her loved ones. Friends and colleagues remember her as someone who lit up any room she walked into, with a laugh that lifted others and a heart always willing to help.
Saidia, just 19, was a bright, hopeful young woman on the cusp of adulthood. She was known for her gentle soul, vibrant personality, and boundless potential. Family and friends describe her as full of life, always smiling, and deeply bonded with her older sister.
