It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jermaine Wood of Clarksville, Virginia, whose life was tragically cut short after being reported missing on September 14, 2025. On September 19, his body was recovered from the lake near Longwood Campground, and on September 22, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed his identity.
Jermaine will be remembered as a cherished son, friend, and community member whose presence brought light and warmth to those around him. His family and friends are left mourning the sudden loss of a life gone too soon, while holding close the many memories of love, laughter, and kindness he shared during his time on this earth.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Clarksville Fire Department, Clarksville Police Department, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, worked tirelessly in the search and recovery. His family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community during this incredibly difficult time.
Though Jermaine’s journey here has ended, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest peacefully, and may his family find comfort in the love that surrounds them.
