TORONTO, ONTARIO – Toronto Police have obtained court approval to publicly identify two youths wanted in connection with the tragic shooting death of eight-year-old JahVai Roy last month.
Authorities say Ibrahim Ibrahim, 17, and Amarii Lindner, 18, who was 17 at the time of the incident, are both wanted on charges of first-degree murder. JahVai was fatally struck by a stray bullet while sleeping in his bed at an apartment building at 15 Martha Eaton Way in the early hours of August 16.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of young offenders are typically protected. However, in this case, judicial authorization has allowed police to release their names publicly until 2 p.m. on September 24.
Earlier this month, investigators arrested a 16-year-old also charged with first-degree murder and five firearms-related offenses in connection with the case.
Police previously released surveillance images of a white Acura believed to have been involved in the shooting and continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
