It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the tragic loss of Andre Ross, a 25-year-old father, son, and beloved community member who was senselessly taken from this world on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Andre was fatally shot at Mill Dam Park, just steps away from the home he shared with his family. Despite efforts to survive, he passed away at the scene. His death is being investigated as a homicide, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Andre’s life, though cut short, leaves a lasting impact. He was a devoted father to his 4-year-old daughter, whose laughter and light brought out the best in him. He was striving to be a better man—a better father, son, and friend—and those closest to him saw that journey unfolding day by day.
“He was trying to be a better person,” said his mother, Latanya Ross, through heartbreak and grace. “He wasn’t perfect, but he was still a child of God.”
Even in the face of unimaginable grief, Latanya’s words were filled not with bitterness, but with forgiveness. Her message to the person responsible for her son’s death was one of rare and powerful compassion:
“I forgive that young boy. I pray to God that he wakes up and asks for forgiveness before it’s too late for him. I’m asking God to be with him, and with my son as well.”
Andre’s family, friends, and neighbors will remember his smile, his spirit, and the love he had for his daughter—a love that will live on through her.
As the investigation continues, the Ross family asks for prayers, privacy, and justice. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking any information that could lead to answers and closure for a grieving family.
Rest in peace, Andre.
Your story isn’t defined by the way you left,
but by the love you gave,
the steps you took toward change,
and the light you leave behind in your daughter.
