It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of David Rittle Jr., who tragically lost his life in a devastating cement truck crash on Tunnel Hill Road in Cleona, Pennsylvania. David was fatally injured after his truck overturned and struck a historic barn on Monday, an accident that shocked the community and left a lasting void for all who knew him.
David, a dedicated professional and hard-working member of the Lebanon County community, was described by those who knew him as a kind soul with a strong work ethic and a generous spirit. He was known not only for the work he did, but for the heart he brought to every task and every relationship.
The crash occurred along a notoriously dangerous curve on Tunnel Hill Road. According to authorities, David likely lost control of the cement truck while navigating the bend, causing the vehicle to overturn. He was partially ejected and later passed away at the hospital due to his injuries.
The accident also caused the destruction of a beloved barn built in 1901—a structure filled with history and meaning for the Bowman family and the local farming community. Despite the property loss, Sue Bowman, the farm’s owner, expressed heartfelt sorrow over David’s passing. “That was heartbreaking to hear,” she said.
The tragedy has renewed calls for awareness and caution on rural roads like Tunnel Hill, but above all, it has reminded the community of how fragile life can be and how deeply one life can touch so many others.
Though David’s time with us has ended far too soon, his memory will live on—in the lives he touched, the work he did, and the love he leaves behind. His family, friends, and colleagues mourn the loss of a man whose presence was a steady and positive force.
Rest in peace, David.
You may be gone from this world, but you will never be forgotten.
