AUGUSTA, Ga. – Authorities have confirmed the arrest of 16-year-old Tyric Kendarius Logan in connection with the fatal shooting at Augusta Mall on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to the mall after reports of gunfire and quickly located 17-year-old Devon Donelle McClain, who had been struck by at least one bullet. Emergency responders rushed McClain to Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m.
Logan, who lives on Silver Street in Augusta, was apprehended at the scene and taken to the Criminal Investigations Division. Sheriff’s officials confirmed that although Logan is only 16, he is being charged with murder as an adult.
The incident, which began as a dispute, caused chaos throughout the shopping center, prompting deputies to clear stores one by one to ensure no additional threats remained. Authorities said other individuals connected to the case, previously considered persons of interest, have now been identified and interviewed.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, working with partner agencies, continues to investigate the deadly shooting. Officials have urged the public to come forward with any additional information as they work to bring justice for McClain and his grieving family.
This remains a developing story.
