COVESVILLE, Va. — The Albemarle County Police Department has launched an active investigation into the tragic deaths of 77-year-old Dennis Miller and 76-year-old Frances Hooper-Miller, who were found shot inside their Covesville residence on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Officers were dispatched shortly before noon to conduct a welfare check at the couple’s home in the 5500 block of Windward Cove Road. Upon arrival, authorities located both victims with fatal gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives spent hours canvassing the area, speaking with neighbors, and processing evidence inside and outside the residence. While investigators have not identified a suspect or released information regarding possible motives, they believe the incident was isolated and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Albemarle County Police Department is working closely with the Office of the Medical Examiner to establish a clearer timeline of events. Autopsies are expected to provide additional details on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
