In Loving Memory of Victor Samuel Jr.

The Shreveport community is mourning the loss of Victor Samuel Jr., 17, whose life was tragically cut short after a shooting in the Cedar Grove neighborhood on Tuesday night, September 23, 2025.

Victor was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital following the incident on Harding Avenue and was pronounced deceased at 11:06 p.m. His passing marks Shreveport’s 29th homicide of the year and the 34th in Caddo Parish, a sobering reminder of the continued impact of gun violence.

More than numbers and statistics, Victor was a son, a friend, and a young man with his future still ahead of him. Family and loved ones describe him as a caring, spirited teen whose presence could light up a room. At just 17 years old, he had dreams yet to pursue and milestones yet to reach—dreams that now remain with those who carry his memory.

As investigators continue to piece together what happened that night, the community reflects not just on the circumstances of his passing, but on the life he lived. In his memory, family and friends are reminded to hold each other close and cherish the moments that can never be replaced.

Rest in peace, Victor.
