SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento man is behind bars after police say he opened fire on ABC10’s headquarters Friday afternoon.
Authorities identified the suspect as 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez-Santana, who was arrested on multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and shooting into an occupied building.
The Sacramento Police Department said the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the station’s Broadway offices. At least three bullets struck the building’s lobby window while employees were inside. No injuries were reported.
Detectives quickly tracked down a suspect vehicle to a home on Carlson Drive in the River Park neighborhood, where Hernandez-Santana was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on $200,000 bail and is due in court Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators have not confirmed a motive, but the FBI is assisting with the case. The shooting came just one day after a protest outside the station over the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
According to court records, Hernandez-Santana previously worked as a health policy analyst and once filed — then withdrew — a workplace discrimination lawsuit.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
