It is with profound sorrow that the Dighton community mourns the loss of Savannah Rian Ellis, a cherished 2025 graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School and former student of Dighton Middle School. On the evening of Friday, September 19, 2025, Savannah was tragically killed in a car accident on Tremont Street in Taunton.
Neighbors described the harrowing scene as a pickup truck crashed into a home, bursting into flames. Taunton resident Kayla Stull said, “I saw a car on top of the other cars, the car became engulfed in flames… my neighbor’s porch roof was completely torn down.”
Savannah was remembered by teachers, classmates, and friends as kind, bright, and full of life. Her family, including her younger siblings who attend Dighton-Rehoboth schools, are receiving support from school counselors and the broader community during this heartbreaking time.
Superintendent Bill Runey shared that Savannah was loved by many and that the school community will rally around her family. Residents noted the area has seen multiple accidents due to heavy traffic and a dangerous curve, highlighting ongoing safety concerns.
Savannah’s vibrant spirit, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory is a reminder to cherish every moment and hold loved ones close.
