Graphic Image of Dallas ICE Facility Shooting Suspect Joshua Jahn After Taking His Own Life

DALLAS, Texas – Authorities have officially identified the gunman in Wednesday’s deadly sniper attack outside a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.

The attack left four people dead, including Jahn himself, and has reignited concerns over security at federal facilities and during detainee transport operations.

Investigators said unspent cartridges engraved with “ANTI-ICE” were found near Jahn’s body, pointing to an apparent ideological motive.

The violence erupted around 6:40 a.m. on September 24, 2025, when Dallas police responded to reports of gunfire near the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway. Authorities determined Jahn had positioned himself on the rooftop of a nearby building and opened fire on an unmarked van transporting detainees into the facility.

Three detainees were struck by gunfire. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported to a local hospital, where one later died from injuries. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that a third detainee remains hospitalized in critical condition.

As law enforcement closed in, Jahn turned the rifle on himself, suffering a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound. “The suspect is deceased,” Dallas Police confirmed. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation.”

The FBI, DHS, and Dallas Police Department are jointly investigating the incident. While Jahn’s anti-ICE markings suggest a motive, officials have not released further details about his background or planning.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is expected to speak at a press conference, while Congressman Marc Veasey (D–TX) condemned the attack as “a senseless act of violence against vulnerable individuals,” offering condolences to the victims’ families.

The shooting has rattled the Dallas community and exposed vulnerabilities in federal security operations. Former law enforcement leaders have described the attack as a “serious breach” and urged a full review of safety protocols.

Authorities continue to investigate, with more updates expected in the coming days.
