In Loving Memory of Jessica J. Wimp

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic and untimely passing of Jessica J. Wimp, age 24, of Bloomington, Illinois, who lost her life in a fatal car crash during the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Around 4:30 a.m., Jessica’s vehicle left the roadway on Lee Street, struck a tree, and collided with a residence on West Graham Street. Emergency crews, including the Bloomington Police Department and Bloomington Fire Department, responded immediately, but despite their best efforts, Jessica was pronounced deceased at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

An initial autopsy revealed that Jessica suffered multiple blunt injuries in the crash. Toxicology results are pending, and the accident remains under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department, McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team, and the Coroner’s Office.

Jessica was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported—a small mercy amid the devastation. She leaves behind grieving family members, friends, and a community that is now grappling with the loss of a young woman taken far too soon.

Described by those who knew her as kind-hearted, strong-willed, and always ready with a smile, Jessica had a passion for life and a fierce love for the people in hers. She had dreams still to chase and memories still to make, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

“On behalf of the men and women of the Bloomington Police Department, we extend our condolences to the grieving family and friends,” said Chief Jamal Simington. “Traffic collisions negatively impact families for generations.”

Jessica’s tragic passing is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be, and how important it is to drive safely, not just for ourselves but for everyone we share the road with. Her story will remain with us—as a call for care, a memory of light, and a life gone too soon.

Rest peacefully, Jessica.
You will always be loved, and never forgotten.
