PHOENIX, Ariz. — Steven Brooks, 23, David Rashad, 40, and Davontae Fletcher, 20, have been identified as the three men killed during a fatal incident in south Phoenix on the evening of September 23, 2025. Authorities believe the deaths stemmed from a home invasion that turned deadly, leaving the local community in shock.
According to Phoenix Police, officers were dispatched around 9:00 p.m. to a residence near Southern Avenue and 24th Street following multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered Brooks, the homeowner, and Rashad and Fletcher, who police believe were involved in the attempted invasion, had all sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Preliminary reports indicate an exchange of gunfire occurred after the suspects entered the property. Investigators currently believe the shooting was targeted rather than random, though the exact motive remains under review. Authorities are gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses to determine the full sequence of events.
