It is with profound sadness that the Greenwood County community mourns the passing of Aneeka Loraine Childs, 44, of Greenwood, South Carolina, who tragically lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Sunday evening, September 14, 2025.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Aneeka was struck by a vehicle around 9 p.m. on the Highway 25 Bypass near U.S. 25 South. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries. The Greenwood County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Aneeka died as a result of blunt-force trauma sustained in the collision.
Aneeka was a longtime resident of Greenwood and a valued member of the community. Her sudden and tragic passing has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving a loss that has shaken the community.
