It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joseph Clyde Butler, age 39, of Vilas, North Carolina, who tragically lost his life following a collision on September 7, 2025.
Joseph was more than a name in a headline—he was a son, a friend, and a neighbor whose presence brightened the lives of those who knew him. Known for his warm personality and kind spirit, he carried himself with a quiet strength and an openness that made others feel welcomed and valued.
He enjoyed the simple joys of life and found peace in the outdoors, especially around the mountain community he called home. Friends and family will remember him for his loyalty, generosity, and the laughter he brought to shared moments.
Though his life was cut short far too soon, Joseph’s memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His absence leaves a void that words cannot fill, but his legacy of kindness and connection remains.
As Vilas and the wider Watauga County community grieve, they also celebrate the life of a man who will never be forgotten.
