ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas — The Houston Police Department is mourning the loss of Senior Police Officer Alex Roberts, who was killed Wednesday evening in a head-on collision in Anderson County while on duty.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Highway 287 as Officer Roberts was conducting a traffic escort on his police motorcycle. During the escort, he was struck by another vehicle in what investigators described as a devastating collision.
Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz, Jr. released a statement honoring the fallen officer:
“Senior Police Officer Roberts faithfully served the Houston Police Department with honor and dedication. His loss is felt deeply within our department and the community he proudly served.”
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the crash. Further details have not yet been released as officials continue their review.
