COLUMBIA, S.C — Authorities have officially charged Anthony Reese, 55, in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Angela Fuller, whose body was discovered on September 11 in Richland County.
According to the Columbia Police Department, Reese faces multiple charges, including murder, unauthorized removal of a deceased person’s body, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen handgun. Police confirmed that these charges directly stem from the death of 56-year-old Fuller.
Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook expressed gratitude to the community and the Fuller family for their patience as investigators worked through the case, noting the family has received significant public support.
Discovery and Investigation
The Richland County Coroner’s Office reported that Fuller’s remains were found near Shakespeare Lane in Dentsville, with her cause of death determined to be a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Authorities said Fuller was last seen on August 31 before being reported missing by her family. Later that day, her vehicle was spotted near Beltline Boulevard and Covenant Road, with surveillance footage placing Reese alongside her.
Police later located Fuller’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on Broad River Road, which led to a high-speed chase into Lexington County. The pursuit ended in a crash, and Reese was taken into custody. A weapon recovered from the vehicle was confirmed to be the same firearm used in Fuller’s fatal shooting.
Suspect’s History
Reese has a criminal history that includes assault, burglary, domestic violence, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a pistol. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, with a bond hearing scheduled for Friday.
